Please read the following before ordering any arrangements:
The arrangements in the Tule Fog Catalog are intended for ensembles of players with mixed ability levels. These were designed for use by my students. I chose many "popular classics" to arrange and always tried to include an easier line (usually guitar III) for the less advanced students. Guitars I and II are designed for more advanced players. These parts are more difficult and in the higher ranges of the fingerboard.
Although most of these arrangements include an easier line, none of them could be considered approachable by beginners. For a guide in choosing appropriate difficulty level, please see our chart: Choosing an Arrangement
For the most part, I have tried to remain as faithful to the original score as possible and still make things playable on guitar. Some pieces have been shortened. For an explanation of the rationale for these cuts and an in-depth discussion of the overall approach to the editions, please see the “Art of Transcription”. When a piece is cut, it is indicated in the listings. These pieces went through many re-writes and demo recordings (on guitars) before they were finished. All of the arrangements in the Tule Fog catalog have been played by guitarists in public performances. Read more...

Moussorgsky: Promenade and The Old Castle (Pictures at an Exhibition),
Pachelbel: Kanon in D Major Guitar Quartet |
The Moussorgsky pieces make a nice pair. The Old Castle uses a thumb "tambour" technique for the bass part and the guitar I part has some high notes. The Kanon has been cut down quite a bit to a very nice length that works well for most situations. All of the main themes are represented. One of the more popular arrangements. Fingerings. Guitar 4 is Dropped "D". |
